A teledrama actress who was arrested for threatening her father for money has been granted bail after being produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
Anushka Sonali Sayakkara has been arrested by the Slave Island Police after they received a complaint from her father - Anushka Sonali.
In his complaint, he has said that his daughter had frequently demanded large amounts of money such as Rs. 100,000 and 50,000 on several occasions.
She has threatened to hire an underworld gang to kill him if he did not comply, Mr. Sayakkara has added.
After taking up the case, Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered to release the suspect on a cash bail of Rs. 4,000 and a surety of Rs. 25,000.
Police informed the court that the suspect has threatened her father and obtained a sum of Rs. 100,000 a week ago.
On several previous occasions, the actress was charged of prostitution. |
