The Southern Expressway had its very first accident on the following morning of its opening, said police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana.

A van plying towards Colombo went out of control, overturned out of the expressway at the eighth km post at Kahatuduwa around 7.10 am today (Nov. 28).

Two people injured in the mishap were admitted to Horana Hospital by the firefighting and lifesaving unit, said the spokesman.
