Lankan students to return due to the floods in Thailand
Thirty four Sri Lankan students who faced difficulties due to floods that affected Thailand are due to return to
the island today.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Thailand General Shantha Kottegoda said a group of students studying at the Asian Technical Institute in the Pathum-Thani area will return to the island.
He further said that fifty one other students who were studying at the institute have already returned to
the island.
Murder of family; two suspects identified
Police sources say they have identified the two suspects in the murder of a family of four in the Puhulyaya area in Panahaduwa, Udawalawa.
A senior police officer in charge of the investigation said they would be able to apprehend the suspects in the coming days. The family of four was murdered on the night of October 13. A businessman his wife, son and daughter, were shot dead.
Police say they suspect the murderers arrived at the house with the intention of stealing money in the possession of the businessman. The police officer also said that they believe the murders were carried out when the businessman recognised the suspects. |
