Damitha is best actress at Signis Film Awards
Damitha Abeyratne has won the award for the best actress at the OCIC Signis Film Awards at the BMICH in Colombo yesterday (Oct. 14).
Damitha was recognized for her role Mandakini in the film ‘Dakina Dakina Mal.’
She told the media that the award was a dream come true for her.
Mahendra Perera was adjudged the best actor.
‘Bambara Walalla’ by Athula Liyanage won 10 awards, including for the best film, best director, best script, best camera, best editing and best music.
However, the artistes had criticized the organizers for not revealing the jury that chose the award winners.
Man who made two million rupees from promises in police custody
A person who allegedly swindled money from people promising jobs in Korea has been arrested in the Kelaniya area.
Police said the suspect has swindled money from individuals in Peliyagoda, Kiribathgoda and Sapugaskanda areas.
The suspect has been arrested by a team of officers of the Crime Division in the Western Province based on several complaints. Police Headquarters stated that the suspect has allegedly swindled an amount in excess of two million rupees.
The suspect has been released on bail after being produced before the Hultsdorp Magistrate's Court. |
