Lakmal to return home
Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal will return home with a left ankle injury that has ruled him out for two weeks. Lakmal, who played the first ODI against Pakistan, was the only wicket taker for Sri Lanka picking up two wickets.
Sri Lanka have asked for left-arm seamer Chanaka Welagedara, who did well in the Test series as replacement for Lakmal.
Sri Lanka monument in Addu doused in crude oil
A group of people doused the Sri Lankan monument, which has been kept in Seenu atoll Maradhoo for the SAARC Summit, with crude oil last evening.
A person from the island alleged that a group from Hithadhoo doused the monument, which represents the Sri Lankan national symbol of lion, in crude oil.
Despite reports that attempts had been made to destroy the monument, nothing of the sort had happened.
The monument was cleaned when a Haveeru journalist arrived at the site to take photos of the scene. Addu Mayor Abdulla 'Soabe' Sodiq, Maradhoo Councillor Abdulla Thoyyib and two residents of the island were there at the time.
They denied reports of the Sri Lankan monument being set on fire.
The Pakistan monument kept in Hithadhoo for the SAARC Summit, which wrapped up in Addu last week, was set on fire and part of it stolen Monday evening.
